“Don’t think about work in your bedroom or relaxation area.” – Matt Mullenweg
One of our greatest joys is getting to work with clients again and again. When this family told us they were moving to a new home, we couldn’t wait to draw out the plans. We needed to figure out how to make all of the existing items from the last home, work with the new additions of the soon to be abode. The master bedroom was the perfect place to start. Check out the old room here, to see how we incorporated old into new.
The lavender bench was relocated to one of their girl’s rooms and replaced with a luxe navy velvet couch at the foot of the bed. This punch of navy pleased the Mr., as it made the room less girly…we all have to compromise! The marble top nightstands were a no brainer, and the Mother of Pearl lamps are classic beauties to stand the test of time. A favorite vintage painting from one of our hunts made the cut and found a new home above the bed. The euro shams, made from a hand painted textile we found in an exquisite linen store in Paris, add a touch of femininity to the otherwise neutral bed.
Can we talk about this rug!? We have had countless inquiries over the years about this antique treasure when people have seen the pictures in a previous post, and contacted us to order it. This lilac, navy and french blue wonder was one of the best finds on our buying trip to Paris, and is a one of a kind. When we discover something this unique, we snatch it up knowing it will find an owner that loves it as much as we did when we discovered it.
This woven aluminum coffee table is another one of our favorite pieces over the years. With a detachable tray top, it doubles as storage and no one would ever know! New leather stools from Cisco match with the rich shades of blue in the rug, and offer additional seating when the kids all want to hang out for a bedtime story.
The vintage mirrored doors were previously hung together. We separated them on each side of the French doors to add reflection and elongate the room. The slip covered chaise was replaced with a more tailored piece, and accented with one of our embroidered Amalfi pillows.
The show stopper of this room is the blown glass bubble chandelier from Oly Studio. Individual hand crafted orbs that cast a magical hue throughout the room when controlled with the dimmer. At night, when it is dimly aglow, it transports you to another place. Light, airy and modernized, this room pleased both husband and wife, and that, is all we can ask for. Stay tuned for the rest of this amazing new house and its previous counterparts.
