“I used to have this joke: Every hallway is a runway.” – Tyra Banks
Anywhere you see and walk through on a daily basis in your home should be beautiful. Forget the garage or extra closet of games and toys, this is a space that has people in and out all day long. What to do with a tall alcove that was a hallway afterthought? Glam it up! After remodeling the kitchen, we couldn’t bare to not finish this hallway that it opens up to. A large cut out and maple doors, it was time to make form meet function and make this space as usable as it is pretty. Wonderful white came to the rescue…
The crispness of pure white throughout elongates the hallway and makes colorful details pop like a well curated shop. Geometric doors up the ante, especially when paired with shiny brass pulls from Liz’s, our favorite go to for all things hardware. Shelves were added for dimension and to break up an otherwise useless area. The floors look dreamy now that they’ve gone from blonde to brunette.
It’s all in the details. By painting the molding and doors in white as well, there is a bright and clean cohesion throughout the home. We even made sure to replace the door hinges with new brass to add an extra touch of glam. Vintage porcelain pieces passed down from her mother are now the star of the show, instead of tucked away in a cupboard. No cranny was left unturned, and now this hallway does justice as the entry to their fab powder room remodel. The wonders of white will never cease to amaze me.
