A chair makeover fit for a King | D.L. Rhein

I’ve said it many times, but I’ve yet to meet a well made vintage piece of furniture that I didn’t like…enough to re-invent!!!  This had a great shape, but a horribly dated fabric.  After a nice sanding, fresh paint, new upholstery and antiqued brass nail heads, it became a chair fit for a queen.  Black and White really pop against the color of the bamboo table and wooden floors, making this neutral palate interesting as opposed to dull.

The beautiful off white fabric is in fact an animal hide.  Before you get verklempt and wonder what animal it is, both hides shown in this picture came from cows.  These are not killed for their fur, but are actually an eco friendly way of using the entire animal as these hides come from the same cows from which we get our food supply.  The rug has a zebra pattern stenciled onto the hair to mimic that of the wild beasts running free in the Serengeti.

The hides add texture to a room and are quite cozy.  This guy sure seems to be enjoying his new throne.
