“The stars are a free show; it don’t cost you anything to use your eyes.”  – George Orwell, Down and Out in Paris and London

A trip to Paris with My Daughter #travel #Paris #mother.daughter | @D.L. Rhein

We’re baaaaaaaack!  After a summer filled with projects, tradeshows and travel, we are finally getting our groove back in Los Angeles.  With one child at sleep away camp, and another abroad for a youth leadership excursion, I had the perfect opportunity to take Mia (my middle) on a fabulous trip to Europe.  Fast approaching 13 with the style of a well-traveled woman and born with an artist’s hand, I knew she was old enough to appreciate the wonders of two of my favorite cities, London and Paris.  A couple of her friends were there at the same time as us, which added to the fun of adventure in foreign lands.

Rainy London Weather and this beautiful blue tree #London | @D.L. Rhein

Be still my heart.  This moment captured so much.  My little girl who is becoming a young lady, the cobalt blue tree that someone had painted in the front of a museum, her adorable floral umbrella.  We embraced the rain and had a blast traipsing through the puddles to grab some fish and chips at an authentic British pub.

Hotel Jules in #Paris - The perfect mommy/daughter trip | @D.L. Rhein

The Hotel Jules did not disappoint!  Located in the 9th arrondisement, it came highly recommended by my friend, college room mate and ex pat Cheryl, who moved to Paris after we graduated and has been there ever since.  She showed Jess and I such a great time when we were in Paris last year, I knew she would have just the place for us and we could walk to cafes to meet each other.

"Kiss Kiss" in front of the Design Museum #Paris | @D.L. Rhein

Pucker up!  We loved the lip sculpture in this London fountain.  I couldn’t resist giving my Mimi some lovin’.

Street Sign in #Paris makes me feel at home | D.L. Rhein

Feeling nostalgic.  Debbie is what everyone called me until I decided to be Deborah once I started college, and Jack street made me think of my soon to be 16 year old who was far away in another land.

Tea for Two #TheHaymarketHotel #London | D.L. Rhein

Fresh Meringues!  Handmade sandwiches!  Tea at the Haymarket Hotel in London!

Two amazing cities, one great trip.  I long for the next time I get to take one of my kids on a special excursion, at just the right time.
