“I’ve never been to a dinner party where everyone at the table didn’t say something funny.” – Lorrie Moore

After completing their living room in preparation for an upcoming engagement party, this savvy young couple wanted to carry the eclectic and fun vibe into their dining room.  A wondrous mix of old and new, this space is a relaxed place to converge over a meal and some delicious wine while waxing philosophical about their worldly adventures.

Mid Century Vintage Sideboard with Brass Asian Hardware | D.L. Rhein #dlrhein #vintage #cabinet

My latest obsession has been vintage cabinets that can double as a console and or buffet.  This Asian beauty in cherry wood was the perfect match for existing objects as well as the hardwood floors.  Brass hardware ups the ante and puts a spin on its mid century feel.  A mirrored chrome tray holds brass top blown glass decanters for serving libations.  We threw a sheepskin from New Zealand on to this vintage wood and rope chair that had been an afterthought elsewhere in the house to add texture and warmth.

A vintage metal rimmed mirror reflects one of our favorite chandeliers from Jonathan Adler.  I love the how the Turkish velvet pillows from the living room bounce back to mirror the shades of fresh orchids in a brass handled chinoserie pot we recently snatched up at an antique show.

Au revoir to the maroon boucle fabric on this fab find and bienvenue to this turquoise velvet stunner!  Not only do they match the Eames bucket chairs perfectly, they pick up the turquoise greek key trim in this out of sight vintage silk rug from one of their excursions to Turkey.

Two of a kind Pair of #vintage #brass #lamps atop a matching set of #marble top #vintage #sidetables #dlrhein

When we are out and about hunting for the next treasure, we know that when we find something chances are we will never come across it again, let alone a perfect match to turn it into a pair.  Jess called me freaking out one day to let me know she saw an exact match for this marble and lacquer table we already owned.  “Get it!” I screamed.  It was kismet, and the perfect choice for this pristine set of vintage brass lamps.  Black paper shades lined with gold make these a real show stopper and marry the whole ensemble together.  Now it was time to prep the backyard for the party…  Stay Tuned!
