“Il ne faut pas toucher aux idoles: la dorure en reste aux mains.”
(Never touch your idols: the gilding will stick to your fingers) – Gustave Flaubert, Madame Bovary

MY MIA | Age 13

Like the rays of the Sun, there is something so captivating about the warmth of gold.  No wonder it has been prized since the dawn of civilization from jewelry to art to technology. While visiting Paris with my middle child, we were awe struck by the golden beauty we found around one of the world’s most magical cities, often in places you’d least expect it.  My design has always been influenced by relics that pull me in and get my creativity flowing, new arrivals to our stores are no exception…

VINTAGE VAGABOND 150 150 admin

“Our culture’s obsession with vintage objects has rendered us unable to separate history from nostalgia. People want heart.  They want a chaser of emotion with their aesthetics.” – Sloane Crosley

These treasures are one of a kind and guarantee to spark interest in the home and conversation with guests. #hunting #vintage #treasures #antiques #design #interiors #shelfdecor | @D.L. Rhein

My passion for hunting objects of beauty for the home began at a young age watching my mother gather and collect Asian antiquities.  Over the years, I have shopped the globe both near and far to discover one of a kind treasures for my clients and design inspiration.  These found objects are one of a kind and guarantee to spark interest in the home and conversation with guests, not to mention put a smile on your face! We are happy to announce the launch of our curated Vintage section now available through our online store.

Lionheart 150 150 admin

“It’s better to be a lion for a day than a sheep all your life.” – Elizabeth Kenny

Only in #Paris | @D.L. Rhein

According to ancient Egyptian mythology, the sun rose in the east over the backs of two lions which represented the mountains.  I have always loved their power and exquisite beauty.  I even named my cat “Africa” when I was in college because she looked like a tiny king of the jungle.  The city of Paris is filled with Lions everywhere you look and I get a kick out of finding new ones each time I am in that magical city.  As guardians  of museums, door knockers, or faces of fountains, these elegant beasts quietly roar as I travel through the arrondisements.  When I got to London, I realized the lion was all over England as well, as it is an integral symbol of the United Kingdom, and part of the Royal Coat of Arms.  read more

A trip to Paris with My Daughter #travel #Paris #mother.daughter | @D.L. Rhein

We’re baaaaaaaack!  After a summer filled with projects, tradeshows and travel, we are finally getting our groove back in Los Angeles.  With one child at sleep away camp, and another abroad for a youth leadership excursion, I had the perfect opportunity to take Mia (my middle) on a fabulous trip to Europe.  Fast approaching 13 with the style of a well-traveled woman and born with an artist’s hand, I knew she was old enough to appreciate the wonders of two of my favorite cities, London and Paris.  A couple of her friends were there at the same time as us, which added to the fun of adventure in foreign lands.  read more

Oh Mi-ami

“It seems that half the point of being in Miami Beach, particularly the northern end of South Beach, is to be observed by people-watchers like me, and the display along ocean drive during my visit was, as always, sublime.” – Susan Orlean

Morning view from The JW Marriott Marquis in Downtown Miami

It had been a loooong time since I had a getaway that didn’t involve work or my children so I jumped at the chance to join my husband on his business trip to the Sunshine State.  Aside from a mini vaca together, it was the perfect chance to visit one of my oldest childhood friends who is a fashionista in her own right and was dying to take me around to her favorite spots.  Two days of relaxation and exploration went by in the blink of an eye…  read more
